Success Is Your Portion
Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, [even] to the children of Israel.
Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. (Joshua 1: 2-4)
Joshua had just taken over the helms of affairs from his boss, Moses. He had the mandate to progress the work. Before now, Moses his leader had been taking the people in Israel around in circles for forty years, without a tangible advancement, (Num 14:33) but Joshua had a different assignment.
First to crown the previous assignment into success. That is bring them into the promise land, which was promised by God to their fathers. Secondly, Joshua must distribute the land to every tribe in Israel. (Joshua 13:7) These will
require boldness, courage, wisdom and God’s grace.
Taking, a cursory look at the word of the lord to Joshua as he resumed office, since this forms the blue print of success of the journey ahead to Joshua. First. (verse 2; “now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people…….”). We saw the commandment was a GO.
If any man will succeed he must be on the go”. What do I mean? Get to work on the core of your assignment. Prioritize your mission. Make your first move the core. The assignment ahead of Joshua didn’t give room for laxity, nor ephemeral things. It was a direct command from the lord. No room for suggestions or meetings of deliberations.
HEAR THIS FROM PAUL, THE APOSTLE; But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called [me] by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: (Gal 1:15&16)
There are many people “lingering in life”. The bible says “and while lot lingered” (Gen 19:16). Lingering is an evil presence that makes people miss out on Gods’ grace at the beginning of their endeavours, and when God’s grace is missing to start with, in any endeavour, be sure struggles will envelop it afterwards, which ultimately will deny the assignment of SUCCEESS.
Joshua must do the needful first, which is, he must be well positioned in the task God has ordained for him, only after this will he begin to experience God’s blessings of success on his life.
This month, would you relocate to the center of God’s will for your life, deliberately? Would you surrender to him in his mission for you? Would you be positioned so dearly that, it is only God’s assignment for you, you are pursuing? Please take note, that as you move from delaying to deliberate actions this season, May you succeed in your endeavours.
This year, the lord will surprise you with his success. You will succeed in all that you do. I command the dew of heaven upon your life. As God was with Joshua, may he be unto you. I wish you the best this season. Shalom.
